Life in Russia
I was born in Moscow, Russia in 1976. My father was very abusive, and my mother was always in deep depression. I spent my childhood and youth without hope. We were very poor and I often wondered why no one wanted to help us.
Grateful for the help of an American woman
I'm grateful that I learned how to read and write. Because of that I was able to learn English on my own and I found a pen pal in the United States. This woman came to Moscow to visit me. At the age of 16, I asked her to help me to begin a modeling career in the United States and she agreed.
Disappointment with my life as a model
I was working as a model for one and a half years but I was very disappointed with life. Many of the models were on drugs and there was much jealousy and hatred around me. I became depressed. I decided I didn't want to be a model anymore, but I didn't know what I wanted to do with my life.
My life changed
A friend at school invited me to church, where I accepted Jesus as my savior. God has really changed me! I became a very happy person. I went to an excellent church where I became involved in the praise and worship team, the evangelistic team and children's ministry. I also began attending the University of Washington and working part time at my church's school. The Lord was preparing me for missionary work in Moscow. After I graduated from University where I had been a student in International Studies, I worked as a Medical Interpreter.
Sharing His love with street children
In 2000, I returned to Moscow as a missionary. I think it is because as a child we had no one to help us that I am drawn to relief work among the orphans and street children. I don't want these children to grow up without love and care like I did. I really enjoy taking care of the broken and wounded. I'm a leader of praise and worship in my church. I pray for people in need. I believe God has led me to my calling in life. I feel really happy. I enjoy gathering clothes for those who have none and sharing the love of Jesus with them.
