"For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile - the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him, for, "Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved"
(Romans 10:12-13).
Count your blessings
Name then one by one
And it will surprise you
What the Lord has done
It's a song so many know and sing
But do they really know the blessings that He can bring?
We're so blessed to be living in these current days
For Jesus fulfilled the law, He had better ways
We can't keep the commandments, as well God knew
The new covenant was made for me and you
No more yearly sacrifice of animals for sin
For God brought Jesus the perfect sacrifice in
To atone for our sins once and for all
That is the greatest blessing we can recall
To know Him as Saviour and Lord in one's life
Is a blessing we yearn to tell others in strife
So they too can reap the blessing He brings
When they turn to Jesus and leave worldly things
The punishment for our sins we didn't bear
For Jesus was made a curse for us there
And what of sorrow and hardship, sickness or pain?
He can turn them to blessings for our ultimate gain!
We are more blessed when we give than receive
And we find joy when we help others believe
Have you counted your blessings the last day or so?
Or when things go wrong do you say, "What a blow?"
Bless the Lord, oh my soul, also bless His Holy name,
And forget not His benefits and we'll never be the same
He forgives all our sins, our diseases to heal
His Holy Spirit is the ultimate seal
He redeems our life from destruction you see
His loving kindness and mercy has satisfied me
He will lift us to heights, as an eagle her young
From morning to noon His praises be sung
The bible is full of the blessings that He will give
If we love Him and serve Him for as long as we live
Have the joy searching scripture, and see for yourself
The blessings that bring you the greatest of wealth
Count your blessings
Name then one by one
And it will surprise you
What the Lord has done
"I bless the Holy name of God with all my heart. Yes, I will bless the Lord and not forget the glorious things he does for me. He forgives all my sins. He heals me. He ransoms me from hell. He surrounds me with loving-kindness and tender mercies. He fills my life with good things" (Psalm 103:1-4, TLB)
"Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God" (Philippians 4:6).
Fear and anxiety are brothers you see
So prevalent these days and why should that be?
In Christians too, they are not unknown
It's not God's desire for them to be shown
His word says, "Fear not and don't be anxious today"
The message is clear, we are to trust and obey
Every day, be anxious for nothing,
For God knows it's better if we trust and pray
Then who makes fear so evident in our life?
The enemy of course, he loves to cause strife
They are spirits you see, that we must bind
Only in Jesus the victory we'll find
Heaven is a place I want to be
With God and Jesus and my loved ones I'll see
No more pain and suffering and growing old
But the mansions above as the bible foretold
In this world there can be trouble and dross
So lay all your fears at the foot of the cross
Set your mind on things above - and not of this earth
Because none of its pleasures are of eternal worth
These things are all transients and will all fade away
When the Lord Jesus returns, only His word will stay
So, dear friend if you have anxiety or fear
Give them all to Jesus for He's ready to hear
May all your fear and anxieties be past
As you hand them to Jesus and be free at last.
"For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and a sound mind" (2 Timothy 1:7).
