Years of abuse … wanting to die
In 1978, I was suicidal after years of abuse in a violent relationship and almost succeeded in my attempt. I swallowed a bottle of antimalarial tablets (Ten of these tablets are sufficient to put one in a coma.) I escaped from the bedroom where my boyfriend had locked me and walked alone through the streets while the medication started to take effect. I rang lifeline and then collapsed in the phone booth. I was found there and rushed to emergency.
God is real
I heard the medics saying I had no heartbeat. I floated from my body and I could see the team working frantically on me below. It was the most peaceful and beautiful feeling. At that point I knew God was very real and was ready to die but I knew He had decided it was not yet time. Suddenly I was back in my body and felt the pain of the jolt to my heart and all the other things the medical team were doing. From that point I started to seek God and not long afterwards I gave my life to Jesus becoming a Christian. My life changed totally and I met a wonderful caring man who became my darling husband.
The gift of my son
We had been trying unsuccessfully to have a child and God showed me a vision of us presenting our son to the church. This vision I kept in my heart for two years, never doubting that it would come to pass, despite the pain of three miscarriages. It came to pass and we have been truly blessed with a delightful son, now aged 20.
God healing
When our son was yet a small toddler I was diagnosed with a huge ovarian tumour and the prognosis was bleak. I could not believe that God would bless us to end it all so quickly and I asked Him for healing. I went to a local church near the hospital where I had been sent to and there was a healing ministry that night. During that night I knew I was healed.
Ovarian cancer
When the surgeons opened me to remove it there was only fluid and twenty litres were drained. There was no cyst wall or evidence that it had been a cyst and not a solid mass as shown on the ultrasound scans. It took them seven hours to remove the adhesions and drain the fluid. The doctors were amazed!
Doctors amazed again
Two years later I was diagnosed with diverticulitis and rushed to hospital for emergency surgery to remove part of my bowel. Again I asked God to heal me and even in my feverish daze I was conscious of Him by my side. I reacted to the antibiotics and my condition worsened. Half way through the night I felt the healing take place and by morning I had no fever and no pain. The doctors were again amazed! They kept me for a further four days to be sure before allowing me to go home.
God provides
Many years ago I was given four young children to foster in an emergency situation. The departments concerned were unable to give me money to buy extra food and our cupboards were bare. Believing in the grace of God I started to praise Him while I drove home and when I reached my front door there lay a twenty dollar note on the front step. It was ample for us to have a nice meal and breakfast the next morning, after which I was able to get a food voucher until my husband was paid two days later.
