ENCOURAGING WORDS
WHEN I NEED HELP

  1. Help is always available for me

  2. "Ask
    and it will be given to you; seek and you will find, knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened" (Matthew 7:7,8).

  3. Help in times of stress

  4. "Jesus says: 'Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened. And I will give you rest for your souls'" (Matthew 11:28).

  5. Help when you think God can't be found

  6. "If you seek Me, you will find Me, when you seek Me with all your heart" (Jeremiah 29:12,13).

    "God is not far from each of us" (Acts 17:27).

  7. Help to show you God loves and cares for you

  8. "For you created my inmost being;
    you knit me together in my mother's womb.

    I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
    Your works are wonderful,
    I know that full well
    .

    My frame was not hidden from you
    When I was made in the secret place.
    When I was woven together in the depths of the earth,

    Your eyes saw my unformed body.
    All the days ordained for me were written in your book
    Before one of them came to be" (Psalm 139:13-16).

  9. Help when people scare you and you can't speak

  10. "Do not be afraid of their faces,
    For I am with you to deliver you," says the Lord.

    Then the Lord put forth His hand and touched my mouth,
    and the Lord said to me:

    "Behold, I have put My words in your mouth" (Jeremiah 1:8,9).

  11. Help not to put my faith and trust in possessions

  12. And he (Jesus) told them this parable: "The ground of a certain rich man produced a good crop. He thought to himself, 'What shall I do? I have no place to store my crops.' "Then he said, 'This is what I'll do. I will tear down my barns and build bigger ones, and there I will store all my grain and my goods. And I'll say to myself, "You have plenty of good things laid up for many years. Take life easy; eat, drink and be merry."

    "But God said to him, 'You fool! This very night your life will be demanded from you. Then who will get what you have prepared for yourself?'

    "This is how it will be with anyone who stores up things for himself but is not rich toward God"

  13. Help in times of discouragement
    "'For I know the plans I have for you,' declares the LORD, 'plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.'" (Jeremiah 29:11).

    Jesus said "I have come that you may have life, and have it to the full" (John 10:10).

  14. Help when I need a way out

  15. "And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it"
    (1 Corinthians 10:13).


  16. Help to see the devil is a defeated foe

  17. "When you were dead in your sins and in the uncircumcision of your sinful nature, God made you alive with Christ. He forgave us all our sins, having canceled the written code, with its regulations, that was against us and that stood opposed to us; he took it away, nailing it to the cross. And having disarmed the powers and authorities (i.e. spiritual forces of evil ... see Ephesians 6:12), he made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them by the cross"

  18. Help when I need to be bold

  19. "Since we have a great high priest, Jesus the Son of God who is able to sympathize with our weaknesses. Let us the approach the throne of grace with confidence so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need" (Hebrews 4:14-16).

  20. Help when I need to forget my failures

  21. "But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus" (Philippians 3:13,14).

  22. Help when I need to remember what Jesus did for me

  23. "Surely he took up our infirmities and carried our sorrows, yet we considered him stricken by God, smitten by him, and afflicted.

    But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon him, and by his wounds we are healed.

    We all, like sheep, have gone astray, each of us has turned to his own way; and the LORD has laid on him the iniquity of us all." (Isaiah 43:4-6).

  24. Help when I need to see a reason why I am suffering

  25. "Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance" (James 1:2).

    "All kinds of trials have come so that your faith - of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire - may be proved genuine and may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed" (1 Peter 1:6,7).

  26. Help when I am under pressure


  27. "To his own master he stands or falls. And he will stand, for the Lord is able to make him stand" (Romans 14:4).

    "I can do everything through Christ who strengthens me" (Philippians 4:13, N.K.J.V.)

    "I was under great pressure, far beyond my ability to endure. But this happened that I might not rely on myself but on God, who raises the dead" (2 Corinthians 1:8,9).

  28. Help when I need to see what God is really like


  29. "Praise the LORD, O my soul; all my inmost being, praise his holy name.
    Praise the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits-
    who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases,
    who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion,
    who satisfies your desires with good things so that your youth is renewed like the eagle's.
    The LORD works righteousness and justice for all the oppressed.
    He made known his ways to Moses, his deeds to the people of Israel:
    The LORD is compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, abounding in love.
    He will not always accuse, nor will he harbor his anger forever;
    he does not treat us as our sins deserve or repay us according to our iniquities.
    For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his love for those who fear him;
    as far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us"
    (Psalm 105:1-12).
  30. Help when I need to encourage others

  31. "Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts me in all our troubles, so that I can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort I myself have received from God" (2 Corinthians 1:3,4).

  36. Help to tell others about Jesus

  37. "I heard a loud voice in heaven say: 'Now have come the salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God, and the authority of his Christ. For the accuser of our brothers, who accuses them before our God day and night, has been hurled down. They (Christians) overcame him (the devil) by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony; they did not love their lives so much as to shrink from death'" (Revelation 12:10-11, italics added).

  38. Help when I think nothing good will come out of a difficult situation

  39. "And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose" (Romans 8:28).



  40. Help when I get carried away with my own self importance
  41. "Suppose one of you had a servant plowing or looking after the sheep. Would he say to the servant when he comes in from the field, 'Come along now and sit down to eat'? Would he not rather say, 'Prepare my supper, get yourself ready and wait on me while I eat and drink; after that you may eat and drink'? Would he thank the servant because he did what he was told to do? So you also, when you have done everything you were told to do, should say, 'We are unworthy servants; we have only done our duty'" (Luke 17:7-10).

  42. Help when I need courage in fighting the battle!
  43. "Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints"
    (Ephesians 6:10-18).

  44. Help when you need to see the clear cut choices in life

  45. "This day I call heaven and earth as witnesses against you that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life, so that you and your children may live and that you may love the LORD your God, listen to his voice, and hold fast to him. For the LORD is your life, and he will give you many years in the land ..." (Deuteronomy 30:19-20).

  46. Help when I need to experience God

  47. "I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power" (Ephesians 3:16-18).
  48. Help when your mind it is clouded with negative thoughts

  49. "Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable -- if anything is excellent or praiseworthy -- think about such things" (Philippians 4:8).
  50. Help when I am fearful

  51. "I sought the Lord and He heard me, and delivered me from my fears " (Psalm 34:4).

    "For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and a sound mind"
    (2 Timothy 1:7).
  52. Help when I am anxious

  53. "Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God" (Philippians 4:6).
  54. Help when I have done wrong

  55. "If I claim to be without sin, I deceive myself. But if I confess my sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive my sins and purify me from my unrighteousness" (1 John 1:8,9).

  56. Help when I am afraid of death

  57. "Jesus too shared in our humanity so that by his death he might destroy him who holds the power of death - that is, the devil --- and free us who all our lives were held in slavery by our fear of death" (Hebrews 2:14,15).

    "'Death has been swallowed up in victory.' 'Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting? ... But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ"
    (1 Corinthians 15:54-55,57).

    "Jesus said to her, 'I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies; and whoever lives and believes in me will never die'" (John 11:25).

    "To Jesus who loves us and has freed us from our sins by his blood ... to him be glory and power for ever and ever! Amen (Revelation 1:5,6).

  58. Help when I need to stand my ground

  59. Remember those earlier days after you had received the light, when you stood your ground in a great contest in the face of suffering.
    Sometimes you were publicly exposed to insult and persecution; at other times you stood side by side with those who were so treated.
    You sympathized with those in prison and joyfully accepted the confiscation of your property, because you knew that you yourselves had better and lasting possessions.
    So do not throw away your confidence; it will be richly rewarded.
    You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised.
    For in just a very little while, "He who is coming will come and will not delay.
    But my righteous one will live by faith. And if he shrinks back, I will not be pleased with him."
    But we are not of those who shrink back and are destroyed, but of those who believe and are saved. (Hebrews 10:32-39).
  60. Help when I need His power to overcome the devil

  61. "They (Christians) overcame him (the devil) by the blood of the Lamb and the word of their testimony" (Revelation 12:11).

    "... the reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the devil's work" (1 John 3:8).
  62. Help when I think no one loves me

  63. "This is how I know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for me" (1 John 3:16).

    "To him who loves us and has freed us from our sins by his blood, and has made us to be a kingdom and priests to serve his God and Father - to him be glory and power for ever and ever. Amen" (Revelation 1: 5-6).


    "God so loved the world
    that he gave his one and only Son,
    that whoever believes in him
    shall not perish but have eternal life
    "

    "But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us (Romans 5:8).


    Prayer: "Lord, you know my weaknesses. Set me free to love you."

  64. Help when I need comfort

  65. "Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts me in all our troubles, so that I can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort I myself have received from God (2 Corinthians 1:3,4).
  66. Help when I can't find peace

  67. "Jesus says: 'Do not let your heart be troubled. Trust in God; trust also on me'" (John 14:1).

  70. Help to understand hell does exist

  71. (Jesus speaking) "The time came when the beggar died and the angels carried him to Abraham's side. The rich man also died and was buried. In hell, where he was in torment, he looked up and saw Abraham far away, with Lazarus by his side. So he called to him, 'Father Abraham, have pity on me and send Lazarus to dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue, because I am in agony in this fire'" (Luke 16:22-24).

    Jesus says, "If your hand causes you to sin, cut it off. It is better for you to enter life maimed than with two hands to go into hell, where the fire never goes out. And if your foot causes you to sin, cut it off. It is better for you to enter life crippled than to have two feet and be thrown into hell. And if your eye causes you to sin, pluck it out. It is better for you to enter the kingdom of God with one eye than to have two eyes and be thrown into hell, where 'their worm does not die, and the fire is not quenched'" (Mark 9:43-48).

    Jesus says, "Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather, be afraid of the One who can destroy both soul and body in hell" (Matthew 10:28).

    Jesus says, "As the weeds are pulled up and burned in the fire, so it will be at the end of the age. The Son of Man will send out his angels, and they will weed out of his kingdom everything that causes sin and all who do evil. They will throw them into the fiery furnace, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth" (Matthew 13:40-42).

  72. Help when I start to worry

  73. "Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life? "And why do you worry about clothes? See how the lilies of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? So do not worry, saying, 'What shall we eat?' or 'What shall we drink?' or 'What shall we wear?' For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own" " (Matthew 6:25-34).

  74. Help when I need to pray

  75. (Jesus says); "This, then is how you should pray: "'Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one'" (Matthew 6:9-13).
    "You do not have because you do not ask God. When you ask you do not receive because you ask with the wrong motives..." (James 4:3).
    Remember God is in control!
    "Yet not one (sparrow) will fall to the ground apart from the will of your Father. And even the very hairs of head are all numbered" (Matthew 10:29,30).
  76. Help when I am lonely

  77. "Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, "Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you. So we say with confidence, "The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can man do to me?" (Hebrews 13:5,6).
  78. Help I need to see that others also suffer
  79. "Paul the Apostle says 'I have worked much harder, been in prison more frequently, been flogged more severely, and been exposed to death again and again. Five times I received from the Jews the forty lashes minus one. Three times I was beaten with rods, once I was stoned, three times I was shipwrecked, I spent a night and day in the open sea, I have been constantly on the move. I have been constantly on the move. I have been in danger from rivers, in danger from bandits, in danger from my own countrymen, in danger from Gentiles, in danger in the city, in danger in the country, in danger at sea; and in danger from false brothers. I have labored and toiled and have often gone without sleep; I have known hunger and have often gone without food; I have been cold and naked'"
    (2 Corinthians 11:23-27).

  80. Help in times of weakness

  81. (God said to Paul the Apostle) "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in your weakness" (2 Corinthians 12:9).


  82. Help when I cry out

  83. "The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears them; he delivers them from all their troubles. The Lord is close to the broken hearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit" (Psalm 34:17,18).

  84. Help when I lack strength

  85. "My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is my strength" (Psalm 73:26).

    "The joy of the Lord is my strength" (Nehemiah 8:10).

    "But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will walk and not be faint" (Isaiah 40:31).
  86. Help when I am discouraged

  87. "The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not be in want. He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside quiet waters. He restores my soul ... Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death I will fear no evil for you are with me, your rod and staff comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever" (Psalm 23).

    Prayer: "Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts."
