Elsa was in the hospital when the doctors had given up all hope of saving her eight-year old son, Thomson. Thomson had received four open-heart operations. Her story will show you that prayer through the precious name of Jesus Christ brings healing, salvation and miracles.
Avoiding a person who was trying to tell me about Jesus
Through a miracle in my eldest son's life whose name is Thomson, I came to know the Lord in 1989. During 1988, one of my office colleagues tried to tell about placing my faith in Jesus as my Lord and Savior. I did not want to listen to her and avoided her. I also told my friends to avoid her.
"What are these special prayers?"
I am always a conscientious person but I was not very religious. In 1989, my son Thomson became very sick to a point where his doctors loss all hope of saving his life and they said he would certainly die. While I was in the hospital the doctor kept me telling that Thomson needed 'special prayers'. On the day when everything failed and the doctors at the hospital informed me that nothing could be done, the doctor sent me yet another message that "Thomson needed special prayers." I screamed out; "What are these 'special prayers'!
God heard my prayer!
At that very moment this colleague who had tried to tell me about Jesus was in the hospital and heard me! She entered the room and said; "I have come to tell you what these 'special prayers' are." At that very moment I realized God's ways were different from ours. On my knees with tears streaming down my face, I accepted Christ and thereafter on the same day my husband too accepted Christ.
"In my distress I called to the Lord; I cried to my God for help. From his temple he heard my voice" (Psalm 18:6).
Go confidently into God's presence in Jesus' name
Jesus tells us how to pray. Jesus says we must go boldly to the Father, going through Jesus as our mediator and when we ask for something we must do so using the name of JESUS. We must pray directly to God and there is no other link between man and God except through Jesus.
"Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence" (Hebrews 4:16).
Jesus says; "I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Son may bring glory to the Father" (John 14:13).
Jesus is the only mediator between God and men
From a purely human point of view, the situation after Thomson had received his fourth open-heart operation seemed and was hopeless. The doctors had done all they could and without God there was no hope. But the Lord heard our cry and from that very day onwards, there was improvement in my son's condition and within a few weeks he was sent home. Today, he is a healthy young man of 21 years old.
"For there is ONE God, and ONE MEDIATOR between God and men, the man CHRIST JESUS, who gave himself as a ransom for all men" (1 Timothy 2:4).
