As I write this, there is much that is occurring in my life. But God is still in control; even to me things seem out of control. I want to tell you about a medicine so powerful it can cure every sickness and disease known to man. This medicine can also bring prosperity, deliverance, salvation, and much, much more. I want to tell you about a man (Jesus), a man who is so powerful, so loving, that no matter what you do He still loves you. My life has been full of ups and downs and people would say it has been full of tragedy. Even in the midst of all these trials, God has done far more for me than I ever imagined in my wildest dreams.
Lying on my deathbed … doctors had given up
From the age of 13 years until about 23 years, I felt like life was not worth living. Even though I had become a born-again Christian in 1991, I had not yet grasped hold of God's love and grace. In October 2000, I was in France laying on my deathbed. Yes, I was hours away from death because I had caught a virus while traveling. The doctors had given up on saving me, as they had no answers about how to help me. As I lay dying in France, my mother was prompted to contact a pastor.
There is always hope
"But let all those who put their trust in You rejoice: because You defend them" (Psalm 5:11).
The pastor phoned France and spoke directly to me. It was during this conversation that I realized that the Lord did not want me ill, but wanted me well to do His work. I took hold of the healing by faith. I made it back home to Australia in October after a long 37-hour flight from France. The Lord showed me many things while I was in hospital - I saw a glimpse of hell, I saw demons, and I also saw Jesus Christ holding me in His arms. Three weeks after returning home I was up and walking around. However the fear of dying had been strongly implanted in my mind and it was only with much prayer, fasting, and reading the Word, that I have overcome this. If you are in ill health, be strong. Do not give up. God is alive and powerful beyond our comprehension and your situation can be turned around.
Times of pain … God is our judge
In 1994, my sister Emily was killed in a tragic car accident. Her daughter who was ten months old at the time was saved. I have seen Emily's daughter grow into a beautiful young girl. I praise God that my sister Emily had accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Saviour before departing from earth.
Then in 2000, just after I had left to live in the USA, my brother and sister attempted to take their lives together. My sister Susan passed away, but not before she wrote in her diary about her belief and love for the Lord Jesus Christ. My brother Alan still lives today and I continue to believe in his salvation and for the mighty touch of God on his life. Some people would believe that those who end their life would automatically go to hell because of this. We are not to judge - He is the only judge.
God using tragedy to mould me
Tragedy does not exist to me - moulding does. The events that have occurred in my life have moulded me into a better person, a witness to others, a person who is able to show unconditional love.
"And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose" (Romans 8:28).
Be glad and rejoice
"I will praise you, O LORD, with all my heart; I will tell of all your wonders.
I will be glad and rejoice in you; I will sing praise to your name, O Most High.
My enemies turn back;
they stumble and perish before you.
For you have upheld my right and my cause;
you have sat on your throne, judging righteously"
(Psalm 9:1-4).
I praise God every day for the manifestation of His power in my financial affairs, my life, my marriage, my work, my family and everything I do. God is also a just God, and His plan has been falling into place with everything I do - His justice always prevails. Through persistent and consistent prayer, God hears us - He will answer out prayers and our needs. Remember this: The forces of life and power coming out of your heart will be in direct proportion to the amount of Word that goes into you. Just recently my father had his finger cut off in an accident and shortly afterward my sister was involved in a tragic car accident. Praise God for His protection for in both circumstances my family has come out stronger than ever.
Ask without doubting
"If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him. But when he asks, he must believe and not doubt, because he who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind" (James 1:5,6)
"Then the disciples came to Jesus in private and asked, 'Why couldn't we drive it (referring to a demon) out?' He replied, 'Because you have so little faith. I tell you the truth, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, "Move from here to there" and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you'" (Matthew 17:19,20, words in italics added).
He went away a second time and prayed, "My Father, if it is not possible for this cup to be taken away unless I drink it, may your will be done" (Matthew 26:42).
Faith is essential when we come before God and ask for something. The bible says that prayer (sometimes prayer and fasting), praising God and knowing God's word will help you stand strong until you prosper in your life … until you are healed or until God gets your finances in order or until your family members or friends are saved. With His help and with the Holy Spirit in your life you can overcome anything. In 1990, in my first year of University, my father required six heart bypasses all at once! It was a time of much prayer and of trusting God for the heart bypasses failed and my father was given only two years to live. That was over 15 years ago, and today my dad is still alive, and is now a Christian … praise God!
Peace in times of turmoil
"He rescues and he saves; he performs signs and wonders in the heavens and on the earth. He has rescued Daniel from the power of the lions" (Daniel 6:27).
God can give you peace in the presence of the enemy. God can deliver you just as He delivered Daniel from the power of the enemy. Daniel went on to prosper in the kingdom, and that is what God has for you today. I have been blessed with many things. Believe in your heart and confess with your mouth that you live in divine health, for prosperity, for salvation of family and friends, to be debt-free, etc. Need healing, need finances, need issues in your personal life resolved … then pray … for God will hear you!
"Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus" (Phil 4:6-7).
There is so much more that has happened in my life, so much more God has blessed me with, so much more God is doing.
Jesus heals!
"He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; by his wounds you have been healed" (1 Peter 2:24).
Satan is the source of sickness, poverty etc. When Satan attempts to put sickness on you then refuse it in the name of Jesus. As soon as you have the slightest inclination that Satan is tempting you with sickness, turn to 1 Peter 2:24 and read it aloud. Receive it in faith and thank God that by his wounds you were and are healed. Even though I am 'attacked' physically, I know that Jesus Christ rises up in my defence and protects me and allows healing to come. So step out on the word, take it and say, "Healing is mine. The devil is not going to steal it from me. Nobody is going to talk me out of it. It belongs to me. Today, this day I received my healing!"
Once you have said this, do not say anything contrary to it … ever. Do not be moved by time, symptoms, or by anything else. Just stay with it. Continue to take God's medicine - the Word of God - every day and you will continually improve. When the devil comes back saying you are not going to be healed, reply and say "Too late! I have already received me healing. I received my healing last week. I've put my foot on healing ground and it is mine. The healing anointing of Jesus Himself is working in me affecting a healing cure in my body. I am healed!"
The devil has no strongholds over me, so no adversity and no sickness shall prevail. I am covered by the blood of Jesus, and greater is He that is in me, than He that is in the world!
Only God can fill the void
Today, I am a Director and Senior Psychologist and I run a psychological consulting service. I am married to the most wonderful man who is unconditional in his love to me. Today, I am saved from the penalty of my sins and I know God loves me. God has opened the doors up for me to train people and to preach nationally and internationally, and to counsel people and organisations. God has opened many, many doors for me and for this I am thankful. Only God can allow someone to feel so free, and I praise God that I am free indeed. To all of you out there, know that out of every apparently negative situation, God allows something positive to occur. To all of you out there, do not give up on the brink of God performing a miracle - hold on and persist. To all of you out there, know that only God can fill that void and give you the love that you desire.
